About

Jacob Chandler Perkins is an artist based in Pittsburgh, where he serves as the Studio Manager at Artist's Image Resource, while he earns his BFA from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. His interdisciplinary practice explores interpersonal experience and object sentimentality through digital media, sculpture, and printmaking techniques. He has exhibited work in galleries across Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Virginia, has earned awards as a member of the Mid-America College Art Association and Pittsburgh's Society of Sculptors, and was featured in the Emerging Artists Talks at the 2024 SculptureX Symposium. From the artist's statement: "I’m interested in how objects are imbued with richness by our shared existence. Mementos, keepsakes, memorabilia; my practice investigates how everyday things become memorialized and communicate narrative. Through methods of sculptural assemblage, commercial printmaking techniques, and digital approaches to image and audio, I vulnerably present artifacts of autobiographical stories. By inviting the viewer into personal narratives, the work creates circumstances for the exploration of who we are in relation to others. It calls attention to our interpersonal nature and tests the extent of individuality."
